Connect with industry

Courses like TechLauncher and Capstone connect students with industry and government to solve real world problems. Students are introduced to a network of potential employers while developing research and professional skills to bring great ideas to life.

The majority of our degrees are professionally accredited by Engineers Australia or the Australian Computer Society (ASC). The ANU College of Engineering, Computing and Cybernetics is also a member of Australia’s leading industry groups and international organisations such as Google, The Boeing Company, KPMG, Microsoft and more.

TechLauncher

TechLauncher is an initiative which enables students to develop the research and professional skills required to use technology to bring great ideas to life and have a positive impact on our society.

Capstone

In Capstone Design Project, you will work as an independent group to deliver value on a real-world project. Teams will work to define and scope their project in consultation with project clients, and tailor and manage system life-cycle processes to the delivery of the project.

Work Integrated Learning

Work experience is a compulsory component of your degree if you are studying any of the following programs:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (R&D) (Honours)
  • Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) in Software Engineering

Work Experience offers you the opportunity to integrate academic theory and ‘real world’ practice. You will enhance your technical and leadership skills whilst gaining experience in the workforce and insight into professional practice.

The difference between work experience and an internship

Work experience is a mandatory requirement of your Engineering degree but does not count for any credit. Work experience roles are found and organised by the student.

For-credit internships are offered by the College through an application process and are optional. Internships are assessable and count for 6-24 units of credit.

Loong Wang Student Entrepreneurship Program

This program aims to encourage an entrepreneurial path and provide practical opportunities for students to employ skills learnt during their degree. It covers travel and other expenses for up to 25 students who are successful in applying for acceptance at HEX International, a two-week intensive program where aspiring entrepreneurs are coached on how to solve real-world business problems and iterate start-up ideas.
