Applications for 2021-2022 CECS summer research program have now closed.

Summer Research Scholarships

Each year, the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science offers a number of Summer Research Scholarships for non-ANU students and Summer Research Internships for ANU students. These are designed to equip high-achieving undergraduate students with the foundational skills and experience necessary to pursue a postgraduate research degree.

Students work under the supervision of a senior academic, and often in a wider group of researchers and PhD students, gaining hands-on experience of life as an academic researcher and stretching academic and personal boundaries.

Programs generally run for eight to nine weeks, late November through to late January (excluding the Christmas/New year break). They cannot typically be counted towards the requirements of a formal academic program.Summer interns will be invited to participate in a variety of shared social events, workshops and seminars during the summer period.

The program is open to undergraduate (including honours) students who are currently studying at the ANU or with one of the ACT four Higher Education Institution. Applications are open to both international and domestic students. All placements will be done in person, remote participations are not available. Priority is given to students who have completed their third year of study though other students are still welcome to apply.

Students are eligible to apply for a Summer Research Internship.  Students are paid an allowance of $750 per week. Accomodation and reimbursement of travel costs will not be covered.

Academic GPA requirements

Priority is given to students who have a minimum GPA of 6.0/7.0 (or very similar).
