Data61, the digital powerhouse formed by the merging of CSIRO’s digital productivity business unit and National ICT Australia (NICTA), offers a world-class PhD experience to eligible PhD candidates working in data-related disciplines such as Analytics, Cyber-Physical Systems, Software and Computational Systems and Decision Sciences.
Students are supervised by world-leading CSIRO researchers and University academics on real-world projects that deliver significant research outcomes for the national benefit. Students are offered opportunities to push the fundamental boundaries in the ICT disciplines in which they work, participate in real industry projects and do internships in Australia and overseas. Data61 encourages and supports entrepreneurial activities of our scholars, offering opportunities to join our start-ups or even create their own.

- Eligible Programs: PhD Sciences and Mathematical Sciences
- Eligibility: Bachelor degree with first class honours, or equivalent and research proposal related to a Data61 research program; Australian and New Zealand citizens; Permanent residents of Australia; International Students.
- Continuation based on academic performance.
Data61 offers scholarships for exceptional PhD candidates across all disciplines of data-related science and technology, for both Australian and international applicants. Full stipends, are available for periods of 3.5 years.
