Dr Heping Shen

Dr. Shen has over twelve years’ experience in the field of photovoltaics solar cells. Shen is currently leading a team working on tandem solar cell and its application for solar fuels in the Research School of Engineering at the Australian National University. Shen obtained her PhD at Tsinghua University (Ranked 17, QS World University Rankings 2022) in Materials Science and Engineering in 2014. Shen was a visiting Scholar in California Institute of Technology (the USA, 2016) and Weizmann Institute of Science (Israel, 2012). Shen collaborates extensively with industry and universities both in Australia and internationally. Shen was shortlisted in the top 10% for “2021 L'Oréal-UNESCO Australia & New Zealand for Women in Science Fellowship”. Her work on solar fuel was selected as one of the top 10 innovations by the Innovation for Cool Earth Forum (ICEF) hosted by the government of Japan in 2020.

She was successful in attracting a total grant funding of >AUD15M. She collaborates extensively with industry and universities in Australia and overseas.
