Changbin (Brad) Yu received the B.Eng(Hon 1) from Nanyang Technological University (NTU), Singapore in 2004, and a PhD from the Australian National University (ANU) in 2008. Since graduation he has been with ANU Research School of Engineering where he is currently a Reader & Associate Professor with Tenure. From 2008-2010 he held an ARC Australian Postdoc Fellowship and from 2011-2015 an ARC Queen Elizabeth II Fellowship. He has also held various adjunct positions with NICTA Ltd (now DATA61 @ CSIRO) and universities and institutes overseas.
The a large number of honors and recognitions received include also an 2015 Australian Government's Endeavour Executive Award, an 2010 ANU Top Supervisor Award, a 2006-2008 Asian Journal of Control Best Paper Award, a 2006 Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Students Abroad, a 2005 Australian Government's Endeavour Asia Award and an undergraduate scholarship from the Republic of Singapore. Since 2008, he has been awarded 4 ARC Discovery Projects totalling 2.2 million AUD and multiple industrial and international projects exceeding 6 million AUD. He is a coauthor of over 60 journal papers and over 110 conference papers and is a co-inventor of 6 patents granted in US, Canada and China.
He is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Australia (FIEAust), a Senior Member of IEEE and a member of Technical Committee on Networked Systems (TC1.5) of the International Federation of Automatic Control . He is currently serving as a Subject Editor for International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control. He was an Associate Editor for Systems & Control Letters and IET Control Theory & Applications.
