Students from University of Tokyo to experience ANU

Friday 14 February 2020

The ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science is organising a Summer Study Tour for 19 students with engineering backgrounds from the University of Tokyo.

Supported by the Research School of Electrical, Energy and Materials Engineering (RSEEME), this study tour contributes towards the university’s strategic partnership with the University of Tokyo and is expected to pave the way for potential student mobility partnerships and research collaborations with CECS.

The study tour will run for a duration of four weeks and is set to begin on 17 February 2020. The tour will conclude on 13 March 2020 and during this period the students will be participate in engineering seminars, workshops, labs, social activities, events during the ANU Orientation Week and cultural activities including guided tours of prominent sites and festivals of Canberra. These experiences will serve as a window into the life of a student at ANU for the students and subject them to the long-standing culture of the ANU and Canberra.

The educational curriculum places the students at the forefront of modern engineering offerings at CECS with exposure to a number of courses, namely Electronic Systems and Design, Digital Communications and Systems Engineering.

English classes have also been organised to engage the students in Australian culture and the student life at the ANU. In addition, the students will attend lectures delivered by industry leaders, showcasing the career prospects for international students in Australia.

During their visit, the students will get an opportunity to connect with student groups, associations and academics within the relevant areas of ANU. Each activity of the four-week program is curated around the interests of the students and offerings of ANU. The immediate goal is to encourage these students to enrol in the master's program at ANU. Also keeping the long-term goals in mind, the CECS International Students Recruitment and Partnerships (ISRP) Team is actively working with international universities to diversify the student cohort at CECS and in extension at ANU.
