The Australian National University (ANU) College of Engineering and Computer Science (CECS) is pleased to announce a name change for its foundation school.
The Research School of Engineering (RSEng) will now be known as the Research School of Electrical, Energy and Materials Engineering (RSEEME). In parallel, the College will establish the new Research School of Aerospace, Mechanical and Environmental Engineering (RSAMEE) with recruitment for Senior Academic leaders underway.
This announcement signals the acceleration of initiatives that will see the College transform its engineering offering through the Reimagine project.
Professor Elanor Huntington, Dean of the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science, said this will be pivotal in structuring the College’s academic units to support a broader suite of programs to grow and develop future generations of engineers, computer scientists and technologists at ANU.
“We are leading the way on transforming our disciplines to turn their attention to the needs of the future. The ground work has been laid and we are now bringing a large program of work to life with the advancement of our facilities, our faculty and our schools,” Professor Huntington said.
The renaming is not expected to have an effect on current staffing, operations, students or research projects but will allow the School to provide more depth and focus in the sub-disciplines of Electrical, Energy and Materials Engineering.
