Dean of the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science Professor Elanor Huntington has been honoured as an Honorary Fellow of Engineers Australia.

The award recognises eminent engineers who have exhibited unmatched dedication to their engineering or scientific disciplines.

ANU Vice-Chancellor Brian Schmidt congratulated Professor Huntington on the award.

"Elanor has played a critical role within the ANU leadership team since becoming the first female Dean of the ANU College of Engineering and Computer Science in 2014."

"This recognition is a reflection of her leadership in engineering and her commitment to encouraging women in STEM.

"On behalf of the University, I congratulate her on her recognition," Professor Schmidt said.

Professor Huntington is currently leading an exciting project to reimagine a new type of engineering and computing, one that is custom built and fit for the middle of the 21st century.

This interdisciplinary venture will attract the very best and brightest from around the world to find and solve problems – not just engineers or computer scientists but the brightest minds both from industry and academia, with varied backgrounds and areas of expertise.

Committed to growing the profile of Engineering and Computer Science in the community, Professor Huntington is a keen advocate of women in STEM and she actively encourages inquisitive and curious students to explore these disciplines.
