Streamlining our technical services

Mr Neil Kaines

The next instalment of the College Seminar Series will be presented by Reimagine Fellow Neil Kaines, Technical Services Manager at the ANU Research School of Electrical, Energy and Materials Engineering (RSEEME).

This talk will outline the Technical Services Consolidation Project. The project targets the key development areas required to provide comprehensive services to schools, institutes, student groups, collaborators and start-ups. It looks at minimising the administrative burden, while meeting the requirements of legislation, identifying a suitable funding model, and establishing a comprehensive suite of workshops that are accessible to the whole community.

The impacts will be far reaching - with a focus on cultural improvement, enabling hands-on teaching in all disciplines, and the rapid deployment of new initiatives in teaching and research. The project also considers financial stability, fair allocation of cost, efficient WHS compliance with natural implementation, as well as systemic mentoring and skill sharing.

The aim is to build an administrative and physical environment where students want to study and join extra-curricular interest groups, researchers want to conduct their research, and professional staff want to work.

Professor Christopher Kellett, RSEEME Director, will host this session.
