Please come and help us launch PostAc®, a new tool that uses machine learning to help PhD students & graduates find great jobs in industry.
Research jobs are the jobs of the future, but the academic job market is not what it used to be, and research graduates are increasingly seeking jobs outside of academia. Join us for this exciting event, where we'll be discussing industry demand for PhD skills, and launching PostAc®, a new online tool developed by researchers from The Australian National University (ANU) and Data61/CSIRO that helps research students prepare and approach the non-academic job market.
At this event, we will be presenting the latest research on where PhD graduates can find jobs when they finish their studies: from banks, to supermarkets, and beyond. The research suggests that, far from there being 'too many' PhD graduates, Australian industry is hungry for people research skills in a wide range of sectors.
We will also be officially launching the PostAc University® tool. Guests will have the opportunity to try out the new app and chat to the PostAc® team about how you or your organisation can get involved.
The event will feature guest speakers:
- Professor Keith Nugent, Deputy Vice-Chancellor - Research, ANU
- Professor Elanor Huntington, Dean, ANU College of Engineering & Computer Science (CECS)
- as well as the brains behind PostAc®, including Hanna Suominen (CECS), Will Grant (Australian National Centre for the Public Awareness of Science (CPAS), and Dr Inger Mewburn, Thesis Whisperer and Director of Research Training at ANU.
We hope to see you there!
Light catering and refreshments will be provided.
Doors open at 1:45pm for a 2pm start.
