Code Like a Girl - 3 day School Holiday Coding Camp

School Holiday Coding Camp

This July, the CLG gang are getting together for a solid jam sesh infused with beats and bytes and we’re looking for a few extra divas to take our sound up-tempo. Are you in?

The Gig

In this 3-day coding camp, we’ll provide a back-stage look at the intersection of music and technology.

From coder to composer we’ll help you code your own song and create a backing track using real musical circuitry.

We’ll teach you how to build a webpage where you can share your beats – and who knows – maybe even build your new fandom!

Never worked with code before? That’s cool. Like music, programming is for everyone and all levels are welcome. Just bring an open mind and some curiosity – we’ll help you find your rhythm.

The Low-Down

Besides launching your musical career, you’ll build a foundational understanding of code, grow your technical confidence, and connect with other like-minded young women.

During the 3-day coding camp we’ll introduce you to the following programming languages:

  • Python – clean, easy to use and super friendly for beginning coders
  • Scratch – block-based coding to teach you the fundamentals of programming and coding logic
  • HTML / javascript – the foundations of any webpage or application

SCHEDULE

  • 8:45am: Drop-off and registration
  • Fun-filled day of coding workshops, games and tutorials
  • 3:30pm: Pickup

Stage Management

We have a team of experienced and dedicated facilitators from Code Like a Girl who will facilitate and supervise the workshop. All tutors have a contagious passion for technology and have a current working with children check.

About our Coding Camps

Code Like a Girl’s coding camps complement the National Digital Technologies curriculum. We’re committed to providing girls with a nurturing environment where they can comfortably learn and explore different areas of coding at their own pace, based on their own interests.

At just 20 girls per cohort, our coding camps are small in size to maximise learning outcomes. Breaking down barriers for women to participate in STEM and entrepreneurship is at the core of what we do and we’re committed to encouraging more girls to realise their potential.

But you can’t be what you can’t see, so all of our inspirational camp facilitators are female role models who work in the tech and education industries. Students will also hear from guest speakers sharing their real life experiences from within the industry.

We strive to make our events and workshops as accessible as possible to our audience and with the support of our generous sponsors and partners we are able to offer our events and workshops at a significantly-low fee.
