The Networking Tour in Artificial Intelligence 4/2021 - Postdoc opportunities for PhD students

The DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) is funding postdoc opportunities in AI and have put a call out for applications to their virtual Networking Tour to learn more about the German research landscape and connect with scientists from learning research groups.

What is the Networking Tour in Artificial Intelligence?

Twice a year we select a group of outstanding young international researchers to visit the German hotspots in artificial intelligence. During the visits, our fellows get a general overview of the German AI research landscape and learn about the current funding and career opportunities in specific research areas in German academia and industry. Our main goal is to connect you to the German research community to set the base for new collaborations, extend your network, and to initiate concrete career opportunities.

The Networking (Virtual) Tour in Artificial Intelligence 4/2021

During the upcoming virtual AInet 4/2021 from 26 to 30 April, we will visit AI research hotspots in Germany with a focus on data science and artificial Intelligence. The participating institutions will cover a broad field of research and give you an overview of the manifold possibilities the German AI research landscape offers young researchers. Our host institutions, like the Berlin Institute for the Foundations of Learning and Data, the Competence Center for Scalable Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence or the Fraunhofer Institute for Intelligent Analysis and Information Systems IAIS, are covering various research areas from cognitive perception, ML for data management, responsible AI and semantic retrieval. As participant, you will not only get to know their work through virtual visits but connect directly with our hosts and share your work through 1-to-1 meetings. We will also support individual visits to German research institutions as soon as the travel restrictions allow for it.

Visit our website for further information.

What we expect from you?

You should have:

• a very strong scientific track record with a focus on artificial intelligence and machine learning (preferably connected to the research areas of the host institutions);

• obtained a PhD/doctorate before the tour but no longer than 5 years ago;

• candidates for a PhD/doctorate may also apply if they expect to finalize their work within one year after application, but high standards of quality will be applied in the selection.
