Mechanical/Robotics Engineer - Ensight Marine Technology (Melbourne)

Our multidisciplinary team is looking for Mechanical/CAD engineer. The successful applicant will be required to perform 3D CAD modelling of subcomponents, assemblies, tools and manufacturing drawings for manufacturers. The successful applicant will be required to assist in R&D lead on machinery simulation and prototype trials with extensive testings and optimisation.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Design and development of mechanical components, systems and tooling for underwater cleaning systems Assist in electrical & electronics system design and integration
  • 3D CAD modelling of components and assemblies to be used in underwater cleaning systems
  • Preparation of manufacturing drawings including tolerancing and dimensioning to Australian Standards
  • Carrying out critical design reviews and design optimisation
  • Working as part of a multi-disciplinary development team
  • Manufacturing test samples and prototypes
  • Assisting in field testing
  • Assisting in R&D projects

You need:

Essential:

  • Minimum 2 years Mechanical design experience
  • 3D CAD modelling experience (Fusion 360/SolidWorks)
  • Sound knowledge of mechanical systems design
  • Good knowledge of electronics and control
  • Basic knowledge of fluid dynamics and CFD
  • Good understanding of engineering materials: specifically, metals, marine graded materials, etc
  • Hands on, practical approach to engineering problem solving
  • Experience preparing manufacturing drawings
  • Knowledge of design for manufacture and assembly
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, specifically machining, injection moulding, 3D printing and fabrication
  • Be able to work in multi-cultural and multi-discipline environment
  • Delivering effective communication and adapt to respectful team culture

Desirable:

  • Experience with autonomous vehicle
  • Strives to learn in a start-up work environment
  • Understanding of computer vision for the future R&D
  • Understanding of machine learning and AI
