The CECS Student Employability team invites you to attend this session where we will be joined by ANU Careers staff and a panel of CECS Alumni who will share their insights and advice on:

  • what to expect in the professional work environment

  • making a great first impression to set you up for success in the workplace

  • effective job search strategies and how to promote yourself and your CECS degree to potential employers

  • how to make the most of networking and build your professional and personal brand.

Speakers

 

Dr Nandita Sharma, (PhD ‘13)/BSEng(Hons) ’09)

Dr Nandita Sharma is a Director of Artificial Intelligence at the Australian Taxation Office (ATO). She is experienced in leading data science initiatives in government, banking, private and research industries. She has considerable understanding of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in industry and deeply interested in educating organisations to embrace analytics and AI for enhanced success. She is a strong engineering professional with a PhD in AI (ANU) and holds numerous International publications.

 

Ella Dion, BEng (1st Hons), BCom ’14),

Ella is fueled by her belief that technology saves lives. Currently a Deployment Strategist and Key Account Director at Palantir Technologies, after spending 6 months deployed in Europe and the UK, Ella now leads the Defence Business in Australia. Previously held positions in Engineering and Business Development for Thales Australia cemented her long held passion for working in the Defence Industry. Ella is heavily involved in encouraging participation in STEM from High School students to young professionals; with emphasis on Australia’s Defence and Security domain. Ella had the honour of being awarded Thales’ Young Professional of the Year in 2016; and AIDN Young Achiever for NSW in 2017.

 

Daniel Shen, BEng (Hons)’17

Since graduation, Daniel has worked in various energy consultancies on projects ranging from energy efficiency policies to supporting the development of utility scale renewable energy projects. Most recently, Daniel has been involved with the development of Australia’s largest wind and solar farms including Sun Cable and the Asian Renewable Energy Hub.

 

Cheng Yu, Masters Computing ’16

Cheng graduated from ANU’s Master of Computing in 2016, leaving with a strong passion for AI and its application into the real world. Cheng continued to fuel his passion by continuously analysing world-leading research papers on Deep Learning to further his knowledge and innovative ideas. Cheng then joined Trellis Data as the Head of R&D, and has continued to lead the expanding team in the direction of thought leadership, innovative Deep Learning and world-leading breakthrough technologies.
