About the role

Our Scoresby branch is offering a rare 13-month full time Mechanical Power Generation Engineering internship opportunity commencing 1stof February 2021 for a current Engineering student who is keen to utilise theoretical skills learnt in their degree and develop practical skills in the workforce. This is a unique opportunity to gain skills and knowledge while you are working full time.

“What Will You Do”

  • Support the High Horse Power engineering team in the delivery of high value primary power, back-up power and renewable energy integrated power generation projects across a range of industries

  • Liaising with key internal and external stakeholders

  • Calculation of Generator efficiency, heat balance and renewable energy integration

  • Assessment of new generators to ensure meeting of Australian standards

  • Proof reading of tender and project documents

  • Creation and revision of Site Layout Drawings

  • 3D modelling of site equipment

  • Creating foundation documents for project commissioning

  • Document management of commissioning documents

  • Creation of coversheets for reports, Inspection Test Procedures and other documents

  • Receive Cummins training in CREO to develop competency in using 3D CAD systems

About You:

To qualify for this internship, it is essential that you:

  • Are currently studying an Engineering Degree, ideally at an undergraduate leveland will be a deferred student for the duration of your internship

  • Have between 1 and 8 units of study left to complete of your Bachelors, Masters or PHD degree as of February 2021/ at the conclusion of your internship

  • Are available for the full 13 months and be willing to defer your studies for that duration

  • Possess Australian Citizenship or Permanent Residency

To be successful in this role, you will possess:

  • Strong and verifiable academic results coupled with a keen interest in Mathematics and Mechanical Design and in turn Power Generation

  • Knowledge on internal combustion engine operation is desirable but not necessary

  • Keen interest in power generation engineering and mechanical aptitude is highly desirable

  • Experience with AutoCAD, or an equivalent 2D and/or 3D software package, such as Creo, Pro-Engineer, Solidworks, Catia, Inventor or similar

  • Are highly analytical and have a strong attention to detail

  • Valid car driving license highly preferred
