The Science Peer Assisted Learning (PAL) program is integrated into first year courses through voluntary study sessions and tutorials.
PAL Mentors facilitate informal study sessions of ten to twenty students. PAL Mentors are students who have taken the course before and are trained to foster student learning and active engagement with their course content. The mentors’ model different study techniques to their PAL group, assist with student guides and provided timely feedback to students and lecturers.
In 2018 PAL will take on a slightly different form with some courses running the full PAL program and others running only beginning and end-of-semester PAL sessions.
We are currently seeking expressions of interest (EOI) for PAL mentors for the following courses:
SELECTION CRITERIA: Part of the requirement is that PAL mentors have taken the course they are mentoring in. In addition, candidates will be selected on their:
1. Ability to communicate in writing and orally.
2. Ability to facilitate small group discussions.
