With a passion for technology and drive to enter the business world, Information Technology and Commerce graduate Rathesh has used his degree to take him all over the world, and all within a few years of graduating.
Originally from Canberra, the relaxing and easy lifestyle, as well as the job opportunities a degree at ANU opened up, Rathesh chose to stay in Canberra and study at the ANU, “I built great friendships and networked with exceptionally gifted people in both academic and business ventures. I was a member of the ANU Trading and Investments Committee, and got involved in ANU Dance, ANU Sport and Uni Games.”
“Since graduating, I’ve been working on various projects helping businesses transform their technology platforms; as a system engineer and UX designer for web applications. I’ve travelled around Australia, and recently been in Shanghai, China working on a financial services project. I’ve also visited my company’s offices in France and Germany which was awesome! I’ve been able to use my knowledge acquired at ANU and apply it to various industries and job titles.”
“I hope to take my career internationally to Europe and then probably to South East Asia, as there are huge growth markets there, which is exciting in technology.”
“For those who are considering studying computer science at university, if you struggle after the first year, don’t give up – the subjects might get harder, but you learn to adapt and get smarter. If you enjoy most parts of it, stay with it –you won’t regret learning the fundamental knowledge and skills which can be applied to most things in industry; whether you are running your own start-up or working the 9-5.”
