Professional Accreditation

The Bachelor of Software Engineering is accredited with Engineers Australia. In addition to your Australian accreditation, your ANU degree will also enable you to practice in a number of other countries through the 'Washington Accord'. These include: The USA, UK, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, Hong Kong, South Africa, Germany*, Singapore*, Malaysia* and Japan*.

Programs for High Achieving students

The Distinguished Scholars Program in Software Engineering is designed to stretch the abilities of high-achieving students. It provides 'customised' undergraduate training for outstanding students.

The Program offers the following exciting elements:

  • You will be able to replace a number of your computing courses or, in some cases, general electives with project based research courses.
  • You will have access to some of the best researchers in the of world - you may be aware that the Australian National University has been consistently ranked as Australia's No 1 University and as high as number 16 in the world.
  • You are eligible for a Faculty Award, valued at approximately AU$3000 - AU$4000, should you wish to undertake a summer research project.
  • You will have a Faculty mentor appointed who will assist you with your academic planning.

Students with a UAI of 99 are guaranteed entry to the program, and those with a UAI between 98 and 99 will be considered on the basis of availability.

How to apply? All Bachelor of Software Engineering applicants will be automatically considered.

What do I do if I miss the cut-off?

Students whose UAI's are slightly lower than the cut-off may be eligible for special consideration or maths bonus points. Our Special Consideration scheme allows students to provide evidence of a particular ability and aptitude in the area they wish to study and up to five bonus UAI points may be awarded for very good performance in year 12 maths.

If you are still not within the entry score, ANU College runs a one-semester University Preparation Diploma as a pathway for domestic students. Please contact the Faculty of Engineering and IT first regarding this pathway.
