How to Apply

In order to start your graduate degree, it is important that you get in touch with a researcher in the College to discuss your interests and academic qualifications. A wide range of research fields are covered by our three departments - check research interests and projects to decide where your interests best fit, and do your homework on your potential supervisor.

Once you have support from an academic, then you can apply for admission and/or scholarship either:

or by

All applicants must provide three referee reports. These should be subitted by the referee directly to the University with a "Referee's Questionnaire" form.

For further information about Graduate Research at ANU see the Graduate Research online handbook.

Applications with scholarship

If you are also applying for a scholarship, note the scholarship deadlines, and submit your application in time for it to be assessed in conjunction with the scholarship rounds. These are generally at the end of August and October each year.

Applications without scholarship

If you are not applying for a scholarship you should still ensure that you have the support of an academic. These applications are generally assessed by the College within one month of receipt of the application.

After your application has been assessed

If you are successful, you will receive either an offer of admission, or an offer of admission and scholarship from the College.

You must either accept or reject the offers within 6 weeks of the date of offer.
