Module A: Materials Science and Technology Requirements for Managing Records and Archives: Part 1

Module Description

Storage on paper and related media as official records. Composition and structure of paper, paper types, thermal paper, additives, finishes, environmental effects and ageing processes of paper, restoration and conservation of paper and paper products, imprint media: solvent based inks, polymer based inks, wax and dye based inks (Xerox), inkjet and digital inks, metallic inks, specialty inks, etc. Storage standards.

Structure

The course is 12 hours in total spread over 3 days with 4 teaching hours per day. The course will consist of 6 hours of lectures, 5 hours of practical classes and 1 hour of written assessment. Courses will be scheduled according to demand. Please contact Debbie Pioch to discuss.
