Module I: Public Administration and Information

Module Description

The course will cover the following topics:

1. the role of public service in a 'Westminster' system
2. ministerial responsibility and its operation
3. Parliament and public information
4. the Auditor-General and public information
5. Freedom of Information law
6. the Ombudsman and public information
7. ethical issues in the handling of information

Structure

The course will consist of three, four-hour sessions including a flexible mixture of formal presentations, workshops and discussions. The final hour will involve a brief assessment exercise.
