ABSTRACT:
Spatial multizone soundfield reproduction over an extended region of open space is a complex and challenging problem in acoustic signal processing. In this presentation, we provide a framework to recreate 2D spatial multizone soundfields using a single array of loudspeakers. The reproduction is based on the derivation of an equivalent global soundfield which consists of each individual multizone soundfields by spatial harmonic coefficients translation theorem. A multizone soundfield reproduction problem is then reduced to the reproduction over the entire region. An important advantage of this approach is that the available dimensionality of the soundfield can be fully used. This seminar presents the quantitative performances of a 2D multizone soundfield reproduction system. Some fundamental limits on 2D multizone soundfield reproduction are also revealed.
