Summer and Winter Schools at CECS
Our research school has pioneered summer and winter schools in logic, machine learning and wireless signal processing to encourage researchers to share their knowledge with each other. We also aim to bring new ideas and thinking to the attention of potential PhD students and professionals in the ICT sector.
Summer Schools in Logic and Learning |
 |
In early 2009 the College is running Summer Schools in Logic and Learning, which incorporates the Logic Summer School and the Machine Learning Summer School.
The courses will be taught by experts from Australia and overseas. The summer schools this year will also include a special track on Artificial Intelligence (AI), which will feature courses on aspects of both logic and machine learning.

Logic Summer School |
 |
Each year the Logic Summer School attracts researchers and participants from around the world. Taught by national and international experts the School combines lectures, tutorials and practical demonstrations on all aspects of logic and computation. Logic is one of the main underpinning disciplines of computation theory as well as being vital for a range of applications from job-shop scheduling to software verification, from modelling the interactions between intelligent agents to cleansing statistical data.

Machine Learning Summer School |
 |
The Machine Learning Summer School is held bi-annually at ANU which shares hosting arrangements with other sponsors and supporters in Europe. The goal is to present some of the topics which are at the core of modern learning theory to students and researchers who are interested in machine learning. The summer school combines a variety of courses interspersed with special lectures to provide background knowledge in machine learning and statistics. The aim is to cover much of the spectrum of Machine Learning, from theory to practice, as is possible in an intensive period.
