RSISE coursework proposal

Notes for proposers

Proposers are asked to provide the following information to the Associate Director for endorsing, rating and advertising coursework.

  1. Title of the course

Brief title.

  1. Course director

The name, formal position at ANU, contact phone and email of the person carrying operational responsibility for the course.

  1. Presenters

The names of the people presenting the course.

  1. Informal description of the course

Motivational description describing intended outcomes for the student in less than 100 words (used only for advertising purposes).

  1. Prerequisites, entry requirements

Any specific formal courses required.

  1. Assumed knowledge of course

Any topics beyond the intersection of standard undergraduate Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics curricula.

  1. Workload

Total number of coursework hours in terms of estimated 'X' hours lectures, estimated 'Y' hours of reading, estimated 'Z' hours on assignments. A typical course comprises 60 hours in total.

  1. Assignment and assessment procedures

Nature of assignments (to be confirmed with students at first formal session of the course), and all assessment procedures based on those assignments that will be used in this course.

  1. Examiners

Name of chair of examiners and at least one other examiner, including their formal position at ANU.

  1. Formal description of course content

No more than 80 words to go on formal certificate.

  1. Curriculum

A detailed outline of the course curriculum suitable for presentation to a University Course Accreditation Committee.

  1. Important dates

Registration date should precede attendance day by 4 weeks.

Registration date: Date by which intent to attend is registered.

Attendance dates: Days and times of day for formal attendance.

Completion date: Date on which all assignments must be complete.

Notification date: Date on which results of course will be notified.

  1. Locations

Location(s) for attendance. Where locations need to be booked, especially with videoconference facilities, some flexibility with times of presentations may be required.

  1. Fees

The proposed fee for the course (external students).
