Research and development programs

Our high achiever degrees

ANU has developed a number of unique degrees for high achieving students. In Arts and Science, these degrees are called PhB (Bachelor of Philosophy). In Engineering and Computer Science we call these degrees our ‘Research and Development (R&D)’ programs. Each program is accredited by the relevant professional body and adds an extra R&D element. This provides students with a unique set of skills and career opportunities. R&D programs are specially designed to provide the best in theory and practice. They expose students to the research environment in a way that is intellectually challenging and stimulating.

Opportunity

Our R&D degrees offer students the opportunity to undertake research projects and advanced courses with some of the world’s leading researchers. They also provide students with an outstanding opportunity to work in research and development in the private sector, or to continue their study and undertake a PhD program. So, if you want to make a difference, and you like a challenge, consider one of our unique R&D degrees.

Matthew Shadwell, Bachelor of Engineering (Research and Development)

“I liked that fact the Engineering (R&D) program allowed the opportunity for involvement in research and development. The structure of the engineering course was also a benefit. Enrolling in a ‘systems’ engineering degree doesn’t lock you into one discipline straight away, but gives you time to experience many areas and make an informed decision about where to specialise.”
