At ANU our engineering students study 'systems engineering', or 'interdisciplinary systems engineering' as it is known in Harvard and Cambridge universities. The difference between this and named degrees offered at other universities, eg Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering, is that students study more than one area of engineering. You can choose from traditional and non-traditional engineering disciplines including electronics and communications, mechanical and materials, mechatronics, sustainable energy, photonics. Read about the history of systems engineering at ANU.

We offer the Bachelor of Engineering, or the elite Bachelor of Engineering (Research and Development). For those interested in computing we also offer a Bachelor of Software Engineering. Another option is to study a combined degree (also known as a double degree) that can give you an added edge, or help you to pursue another passion.

See our Program guide for what's on offer.
