The Australian National University is one of the world's great research universities. A research-intensive learning environment gives you a special kind of degree, and a unique learning experience. We have more educators and mentors per student than many other universities. Many of our staff are award winning teachers (nominated by their students) who give generously of their knowledge and time.

Our campus is the heart of our community with art galleries, theatres, cafes, shops, accommodation, sporting facilities and plenty of space. Best of all, ANU is situated in Canberra that was specially built as the nation's capital, and is in one of the most beautiful parts of Australia.

Canberra is often known as the 'Bush Capital' because of its large areas of green space, lots of trees and gardens, recreational lakes, and bush walks which are actually in the city. We have a multicultural population of around 350,000 people, enjoy four distinct seasons, and the city is free of pollution and heavy traffic. We think that Canberra is an ideal environment in which to live, study and work, and so do many of our students.
