Women in technology

We encourage our female students to network with each other, as well as with their male colleagues, on a regular basis so that they build new networks and make new friends to support themselves and each other while studying (and beyond).

From time-to-time the College organises get-togethers for female students, and we particularly welcome their voluntary assistance for outreach programs to help other young women decide on a career in engineering and computer science. We find that enthusiastic students are great ambassadors for us in helping to increase the number of women entering high technology fields. It's not all hard work! We reward these generous students too.

A recent student initiative, supported by the College, is the creation of the ANU Girl Geek Coffee club. This is an excellent way to meet informally and have a chat. All female students (undergraduate, graduate coursework, and graduate research) as well as female academic staff are welcome.

The Club has plans for get-togethers in 2011, and want to welcome as many new undergraduates as possible, so keep an eye on their website about upcoming events.
